NexGen Wars Pokémon Tournament (Discussion)

Okay, so we have enough people interested so I figure it's time to start seriously discussing rules and a date. I'd like to hear everyone's suggestions and in a day or two we'll go with a poll to decide which rules to go with for it.

Not everyone picked up the game at launch and not everyone is a Pokémon whore so I think we should still wait at least a couple weeks.

I'm thinking we should skip having different ranks and instead go with the option that balances levels. Everyone will be raised or lowered to level 50 for the matches. That way those that play constantly don't have an obscene advantage. Though they'll still have the benefit of moves and some item based stat enhancements earned for their hard work.

As far as permitted Pokémon, I'm thinking we should have no uber legendaries. The earlier tiered ones however I would be for having in limited numbers. One or two. Another option already mentioned before that I wouldn't mind is allowing a single uber. Which seems fair as even if you only have Diamond or Pearl you've had a chance to catch two when all's said and done.

Any suggestions, complaints, etc. are strongly encouraged as I want this to turn out nice and fun.

im looking forward to this . im thinking 1 uber. are we allowed to use pokemon that we have trained up on the previous games?

I say wait at least a month still before holding a Pokémon tourny. Like you said, not everyone picked the game at launch, and not everyone is a pokémon whore (some of us have many other games to play ).

I would love to participate in a Mario Kart DS tourney though (I'm sure I'd be eliminated fast but that's behond the point), there are much more NGW members who own MK at the moment and it's been out long enough to make sure that everyone knows how to play.

You can use your router to connect with people all over the world with Nintendo WiFi Connection. It lets you configure it in the game.

[question: how come everytime i startup pictochat and i click quit, it shuts down my ds. cant i just go back to the main screen? and also, is it true you can play 'capture the flag' with a group of people online?]
