Default Manning Chokes! (Superbowl game and commercial discussion)

Saints are the winners of Superbowl XLIV!

I was rooting for them, even though they did off my 2 favorites in the playoffs, because they were the underdog (not to say they were a bad team, they were one of the best in the entire season, really any team up against the Colts are what I would consider the underdog) and Manning choked in the 4th quarter leading to a Saints interception touchdown to seal the deal. The Colts special teams also choked in a 3rd quarter Offside Kick (which was the 1st superbowl offside kick to happen before the 4th quarter) to give saints possession of the ball back. That's where the game turned around IMO, because it looked like the Colts would win before that happened.

It was a pretty good game, some good commercials this year too.

So yea, discussion of the game, and the commercials, here!

I woulnd say choked at all, the key to that game was the 2nd qtr and the brilliant insides kick call. Amthe commercials sucked except for the megan fox one

Interception because he got in a hurry, that's how he choked. They should have played the clock game, score with under 2 minutes, and force the mistake into Brees that he made.

But really, Manning's constant audibling was really what had costed the team. Though it did take the Saints by surprise initially, their defense learned to expect the unexpected by the time there was about 5 minutes left in the 2nd Quarter.

Like it or not, this is likely a sign that Manning will become less relevent in the years to come.

Dying to buy a PS3 for Uncharted 2 but my pride says no. And I still love EA.

I wouldn't say it was so much Manning's fault. Their defense and that idiot who tried to catch an onsides kick with his face were mostly to blame. That guy should probably just go ahead and kill himself.

You can't blame the entire game on an interception. I think everything leading up to that were more the Saints keys to victory. The biggest problem for Manning was that the Colts defense couldn't stop Brees and the Saints offense had the ball for what seemed like 3/4 of the game.

Yeah, Manning normally leads his team to win in that situation, but you can't always rely on 1 person to win - sometimes all of the other parts have to put in their work as well, and that didn't really happen.

Reading, it helps.

In the OP I talked about the onside kick being the turning point for the game. Manning had a chance to at least get it tied up at the end of the 4th quarter, but the interception was his bad, it was just a bad throw on his part.

Saints just took advantage of the Colt's weakness with the onside kick in desperation, as the Colts are ranked terribly on Special Teams.

your comments make me belive that you didnt even watch the same game rather only read the boxscore recap. Seriously Manning is on top of his game andbest there is right now, 1 mistake was made on a timing play where perhaps he was pressured and threw early or perhaps the reciever didnt make the cut when he was suppose to, either way up to that point the colts and more specifically manning could do whatever he wanted to on offense. If Garcon had not dropped the 3rd down pass in the 2nd Qtr colts probably go up 17-0 making the game very different. It should also be pointed out that Manning is the ONLY reason the colts were even in that game there D was weak this year with bob sanders being out the whole year and its obvious that Freeney was no longer able to impact the game after reaggrivating his injury. Of course EVENTUALLY manning will decline as he ages but thats not happening for many years to come. Lets face it he isnt Favre

I guess I misread the title then. :/

I read the rest - saying at the end "Manning will become less relevant" only reiterated to me that you put the entire game on Manning's shoulders.
