the main perks of posting in the interview forum are suggesting who to interview and what questions to ask them. Theoretically, the guests will want to join to know whether the people they want to suggest have been suggested, if they can't check without joining. Plus, if their suggestions aren't there yet, they can make them, since they are now a member.

Waa waa can try and convince you further.

Another possible thing is interviews being "archived" and viewable by members only.

Ideally, yes. Interviews will bring more traffic to the site in general, being able to request questions and who to interview will bring in members.
