Same thing happened to my aunt's friend couple years ago. I was at my aunt's house when it happened, so I witnessed a pretty irate email.

Dog's belong on the end of a leash, because they don't have any road sense at all.

I was walking my dog on the side of the road then I had to cross I saw him coming, but he was a long way from me and my dog, so when we crossed my dogs butt was sticking out behind me and then he comes with an insane speed and rams my dogs butt, and I know he saw us, it was like the guy was aiming for my dog.

Sorry to hear such bad news mate, take care. Some don't understand, but I know it's like losing a family member.

This and anything else thought, typed or whatever. Why are you being such a git.

Like - my kid has just been run over - 'why was your kid in the road'

Nasty and unfortunate things happen, stop judging and give this fella the support he is seeking from this community.
