Peter Forsberg has signed a contract for the rest of the year with the Colorado Avalanche. I think that was the last player that was sitting on the sidelines deciding if he was going to return to the NHL or not. I sure hope it doesn't become a new trend.

2008 Trade Tracker - Sportsnet.ca

Plenty of trades today.

Penguins win the trade deadline. They traded Colby Armstrong, Erik Chritensen, Angelo Esposito and a draft pick for Pascal Dupuis and Marian Hossa. Marian Hossa! A first line of Crosby, Malkin and Hossa, that isn't so bad, is it?

Huet went to the Caps for a 2nd round pick, and Brad Richards went to Dallas along with Johan Holmqvistf for a draft pick, Mike Smith, Jeff Halpern and Jussi Jokinen (the shootout master).

Leafs swapped Hal Gill, Chad Kilger and Wade Belak () for some draft picks. I'm relatively content with that, Fletcher couldn't really do much due to the no-trade clauses in lots of his players' contracts.

Marian Hossa is a big pickup, but it sounds like the Penguins are making the same mistake the Rangers have too many times: too many stars and not enough role players. Never ends well, but we'll see.

Bruins did nothing. Hossa becomes an interesting addition for the Pens. If he's a rental player they gave up a huge amount of stuff for him, but it gives them a good chance of being the top team in the East at least. If they resign him and have his big contract along with Crosby's and Malkin's that he'll sign next season they'll have a good $25 million tied up in 3 players which isn't always a good idea with the cap.

Meant to post this rumour after the game on Thursday, but it was mentioned on TSN that on the trade deadline Ottawa's GM called up Chicago's and inquired about swapping goaltenders. And not just a one for one trade, but a two for two trade. Emery and Gerber for Khabibulin and Lalime.

I thought Emery and Gerber were doing a good job?

TSN : NHL - Canada's Sports Leader
Just had to post this article because I find it funny. From a broken back in the headline, to a broken bone in his back in the bold section, to a cracked bone in the 1st paragraph. They should probably make up their mind.
