Put a witty caption in there, and toss it in the cat thread.

I still don't understand why Walmart got into all this by dropping HD-DVD. Makes no sense...unless they already knew Toshiba had plans to croak.

When you consider how close Sony and Toshiba are, neither of them could possibly close from the demise of HD DVD. It's not that far out.

Toshiba made the Emotion Engine for the PS2, which got DVD into a lot of homes.
Toshiba make the Cell for the PS3, which gets Blu-ray into a lot of homes as well as their own, new GODLY TVs.
Even with failed Sony formats, some of their specifications made it into Toshiba's products with seemingly no reason.

So what are you saying?

That it's a conspiracy?

Not a conspiracy, but I doubt Toshiba are crying to themselves that it's over.

I've heard about conspiracies regarding politics or religion, but conspiracies for a media format that damn near no one cares about?

Interesting thoughts. Not true though. Toshiba and sony are close though, but then again, Sony and Philips are close also. Maybe it's just sony who gets in bed with lots of different companies to suit their own purpose?

Heh, the processor Sony was making at the factory wasn't mentioned. Wait for it.... it was..... the Cell!!!!11!!!!

Toshiba had a hand in it design and that factory was pretty much set up to make Cell chips for the PS3. Now that it is in the hands of Toshiba, it'll still likely make Cell chips but also several other Toshiba designs. Toshiba has an interesting IO chip for Cell that's not in the PS3 for example. In a bit of irony, it was rumored that Toshiba was planning on releasing an HD-DVD player that used Cell.
