WHy that?

I don't care much either way. But what I do know is that the fewer to share, the more for each.

Socialist and Communist don't think population is a problem at all. They think, and I think, that resources are perfectly fine but need to be distributed better. For example the common cited amount is in America 80% of the wealth is with 15% of the population. Thats a major distribution problem. Food is the same way.

Doesn't a country like Ethiopia pretty much put this theory to bed?

More people means more productivity, more innovation, more people working on solutions, and more people to sell to.
Show me a decreasing population and I'll show you a nation on a verge of bankruptcy, no productivity, less people working, etc..
Japan opened up to immigration, because of its declining population, which would mean less skilled people in the future, and an economic disaster!

There ain't no food shortage, not if we help poorer nation develop more advanced technologies to achieve better utilization of farmlands, etc..

Isn't it ironic though that when people get a higher education and become more specialized workers is when they quit reproducing themselves? For example in America I believe the rate of reproduction to a couple is something like 1.7. Meaning for every two people we only create 1.7 and thusly are eliminating our own population. We also rely on immigration...

I don't know if having less kids is in direct relation to our level of education. It's not as easy having kids today as it was years ago. It's just too expensive, plus there are so many other factors - such as divorce rate, etc.

Our increasing levels of education I would say is more in relation to how much money it takes these days to sustain a family, house, cars, etc. It's not like the old days where you could pump gas and take care of a family of 10.

If you look globally it applies as well though. Many European countries have the same issue. Education is really only one factor though, you're right.

Women...

It's not an education issue, it's a women issue. If they couldn't get educated/get decent jobs, they'd have to marry away and we'd make more kids.
