But in nearly every other category, Nintendo has either stayed the same or fallen back.
yes but the argument here isn't that N. is the only people being innovative, it's that the FPS genre is bland, and repetitive
almost to the point that if you own nothing but FPS games you can't bash those people who play nothing but Madden without some level of irony No doubt, gameplay is the most important thing--but it's not the only thing. And plenty of non-Wii games have great gameplay that has been developed gradually over a few generations. But in terms of AI, story-telling, graphics, online, depth, and sound, Nintendo is behind Microsoft's and Sony's consoles. yes but now it's seen as secondary to graphics, and like the article says a consoles power shouldn't be measured in how well it renders light and shadow, etc.
Hell PS2 graphics are more than enough for any game
good graphics look nice, but you know it's bad when games like KZ2 are getting hype not cuz of a new gameplay feature, but cuz of how good the graphics look
as for that last part that's debatable
SMG looked just fine and doesn't need halo3 like graphics
Nintendo also has a HUGE third party problem, which hasn't really changed since the N64. Having owned an N64, I got pretty tired of poorly executed 3rd party titles (except from Rare). At this point, the only Nintendo title I'm really interested in playing is Zelda. I'm kind of tired of Mario and I actually think Banjo could potentially be a better game than SMG. Don't get me wrong, a game of MarioKart is still fun, but ultimately not enough for me to get a Wii. But hey, if that's what you like, fine by me. Just don't say stupid stuff about how the Wii is so much better. It's almost like those annoying Mac vs. PC commercials. | the 3rd party thing isn't as big as some would have you believe.
