| so there was recently a graphics vs gameplay thread and there's a funny article that would've fit perfectly into it but that thread was more of a debate, this one is to show that nothing has changed since 2004 Quote:

| And I fully agree with it. I'm bored to death with FPS games because they all are *gasp* the same *gasp*. There is no innovation just as he says they just change the setting and a coupld of textures and TADA! a new game. I played FPSs religiously since 1992 to around 2006 then I said fuck it. Because they are all the same but prettier as time passes. Last big innovation in FPS was Quake, and guess in what area the innovation was? Yes correct in graphics when enemies switch from bitmaps to poly-models. |

| I won't argue it. I've long felt that just about every FPS is a rehash of those that came before it. Weapons and storylines may change, but the basic goal is always the same, as is what you have to do to get there.

| The only good shooters, i find, are horror survival. Condemned 2 was pretty cool and believe it or not, it was innovative. Sadly though, FPSs have gone downhill since Halo and it seems that the FPS is dying out as a genre because each new rehash has a little bit less first-person in it.

| All games nowadays are a rehash of the original PacMan but with prettier graphics! Tactical JRPGs FTW!! I don't really care about graphics, I care more about gameplay, in the old days so did game developers, not so much anymore.
