Default Why was the dreamcast Great?

So why was the dreamcast a great console or why was it a failure? Give me your opinion.

I think the dreamcast was great because of so many great titles that came out in so little time.

I never really played it that much, but from reviews and stuff I heard it was good. Apparently that was sega's best console and lasted over 10 years if you are counting japan.

dreamcast was good because at the time it had the best graphics...a damn good line up of games that came out...and it brought online gaming to the markert even thought only like 3 people played anything online because it sucked lol....but still at the time it was an all around great thing to have

I bought almost every single Dreamcast game, had about 6 controllers and 8 VMUs. Loved the thing. Games were just plain fun, that's all. Easy to play. Four player multiplayer.

I think it had the best launch of any system ever released. I came home with nearly 10 games! And still more good ones came out IMMEDIATELY after launch.

Some other plusses:

--Graphical pop

--An overwhelming sense of 'fun'

--First stab at online w/browser (though it sucked)

--Nice controllers

--Very good import scene

--So many great titles; Shenmue, NFL 2K series, Skies of Arcadia, Hydro Thunder, it goes on and on.

--IMO, was a 'gamer's system'.

--Kinda noisey, but durable. I only ever owned one and played it a TON.

i still have my dreamcast...though i think its starting to die because sometimes when i play games in it, the disc will stop reading =(...but yea, compared to now, that thing had so many great games and they were never in short supply...
