Was the SNES hardware superior to the Sega G?
cus the graphics where a bit better and the sound was waaaay better on the SNES

That could be argued... if anything, I did, and still, prefer Sonic's Genesis graphics to Mario World ones...

DK country had the best sound and graphics at the time

the weird thing with Sonic games is
Sonic 1-best graphics

Sonic 2-downgrade

Sonic 3-about Sonic2s but with better animation

S&K- same as sonic 3

why did Sonic 1 have the best character and background graphics?

Maybe they got lazy? I never noticed the difference.

Chibi did(Chibi used to pause sprite based games to see all the animations)

and no that isn't cus the 2nd screen is larger, Chibi plays old school Sonic regularly
