| Yes it's the older model Internet tablet.. (Yes it's basically a rebranded Linux PDA - at least what we tend to think of PDAs as being hardware wise..) But I've just picked one up. Really lovely device and running a surprisingly full version of Linux. (It's freaky to see the X11 stopwatch cursor on a handheld.) The main motivation in picking one up is that if you look around you can find one for under $150 now. I've been craving a PDA with an active company and more secure future, this is it~

| Does it take absolutely ages to boot up though?

| Does it have GSM support? Or is it just wi-fi?

| Bootup is indeed lengthy for a PDA, though it's got a pretty intelligent sleep mode so bootup doesn't have to happen regularly at all. (Most of my rebooting has been over changing some of the desktop plugins around.) Wifi and bluetooth sharing from a celll phone. I believe the successor is getting a version with some sort of WiMax support. Quote:
Quickie for now. Not much pics of my own other than on my desk near my new keyboard and mouse. (I'm on a blue LED trend there..) Also ordered a 2GB RS-MMC card for it for ~$40. That should give me plenty of room.

| I think I know what that is... I think my friend had one at one point. |

| If the 770 is the old one, which is the new one? And what's the homebrew support like? Firefox? Decent media player? Games? |

Quote: I've also installed a port of mplayer for anything the packed in video player chokes on. A few open source games are ported, though naturally controls aren't ideal. I've got a port of NetHack on it and I'll be playing with NES, MAME (Bubble Bobble!), and ScummVM (The Dig!) once I get a bigger memory card. (They're nice enough to pack one with it, but just 64MB.) | Sounds pretty sweet. But the lack of GSM support puts me off. If I spent $150 on a mobile device, I'd at least like to be able to phone people when there is no wi-fi available ![]() Looks like my crapola c500 clings on for another year |

| Yeah it's no cell replacement. Though you'd likely be hard pressed to find a cellphone alone that could replace it feature wise. (I'm still gawking at the resolution of the screen coming from my Zodiac. 800x420 versus 480x320!)
