That's what AVG says about healing files.
the .exe file was unhealable, therefore had to be deleted, therefore it made the game unplayable.
But, thank God, AVG released an update, and now it's all working.

And chedabob, let me know when a CD crack is made ok?
I really want one.

That's what I thought.

Congratulations on your working game!

The "virus" your computer detected was probably SecuROM. SecuROM is 2K's new anti-piracy software that activates through the internet. It is, in it's basic form, a rootkit. It's nothing to worry about.

I thought the Bioshock trojan thing was proven false?

The trojan, yes, the rootkit, no. 2K perpously put SecuROM on the discs to try to prevent piracy because SecuROM forces you to run the software through 2K's online validation service the first time you launch the game. (Not like it won't get pirated in the end, but you gotta give them a hand for trying)

Yea, I figured that out, it just acts somewhat like a virus, which makes things a pain.
good thing AVG and 2k games got told about it, the update happened pretty fast.

you do know that AVG puts a backup in the virus vault??? all I did was restore bioshock.exe and disable resident shield for the meantime until an update is realeased. No need to reinstall anything.

But AVG's a bitch for deleting random exe's, it's tried to delete my Supreme Commander exe, a bunch of WoW patch exe's, among others. All backed up to the virus vault and easily restored.

Also, regarding SecuROM, you only get FIVE activations/installs of Bioshock before it will no longer activate (previously 2, but people bitched so 2k increased it, not much of an improvement IMO). Apparently 2k games will remove securom in a patch sometime in the future, but hasn't mentioned when.

Basically a bad move, just punishing the people who did the rright thing and bought the game...

Damn, I think I've used 3 now.

AVG are cocks... this same thing happened to me... I had to TURN OFF the Resident Shield in order to have this crap work...

The FREE AVG doesn't have an ignore list I could find either... if I told it to ignore Bioshock when the message popped up, it wouldn't start at all!!!
