I just hate the cancel or allow box. Anyone know how to permanently disable it?

You must have watched too many mac ads, everyone disables that as soon as they get vista, I almost forgot about it. Go to start and then click the picture icon above your user name. Can turn it off there, then restart.

The desktop manager only uses up as much ram as a firefox window, just saying its the next biggest hog besides the caching.

Well the basic idea behind UAC in Vista is a good thing, it's just the implementation that sucks (which means people turn it off, which in turn makes it a useless feature)

That's what I find surprising about Ubuntu, it just seems to run much faster than Windows, the driver support isn't bad at all, there's loads of freeware to download and install. It's fun and quirky, going through the terminal to install programs and change file and folder mode and all that stuff is kind of enjoyable, I like how with Ubuntu I'm more involved.

Random nanotechnology break through. I'm not quite sure how well it'll scale for commercial use. It allows for nice data density but the actual area for such densities was not discussed.

Very interesting.

But even if the area is limited, it should be a good supplement.

I officially switched to Ubuntu, got almost everything I want running.

I was disappointed though when I found out that mono is a VS.net-like and not exactly 100% compatible, so for all my VS.net stuff that I need them to run on Windows, I have to restart and switch back to Windows.

I hate .net and I hate the stupid idea of having Network programming in C# course, I love the course, but hate having to use a proprietary language and environment.

I'm thinking about installing Windows xp on Virtualbox, I wonder if it is possible to access my hard drives from Virtualbox, or if I can easily drag and drop into the Virtualbox any folder or file.

The list of the fastest computers in the world has been updated.

In a more down to Earth scenario, Valve has updated their Steam survey here. There are a few surprises here.
