| I am not too sure what is going on but I am having a serious problem running D3D games (openGL run fine) The problem being this, every 1 second exactly it will hang for a brief time... Most of the time I can get this to go away eventually, but it takes time... opening and closing D3D games until it they finally work. This of course is a pain in the ass. Any ideas or help would be great For Specs see my sig. (mobo is Asus M2N4-SLI) |

| I'll start with a standard question: What manufacturer is your GFX card from (ATi or Nvidia?) EDIT:// OK I'm retarded you have that info in your sig EDIT2:// Is your problem in all D3D games or just some new game you got? Did you recently update the drivers for your GFX card? If so try downgrading to the previous set Even further is that Nvidia has, in the past, had a tendency to flood the market with different drivers (and beta drivers) for their card and in a lot of cases one set of drivers work well for 1 or 2 games but if you want to play game no. 3 you have to install a different driver set to not have any problems or preformance issues. |

| Is the graphics card fully updated? (basic I know but it's a root of so many problems)

| PC: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+, 3GB Kingston DDR2, Geforce 8800GT. That would be nvidia |

| Are you hibernating the machine?

| I'd check the cooling set up of the machine and individual components. When entering a game, the video card will hit full speed mode (in the 2D desktop, it works at reduced clock speeds). Also what power supply are you using in it? |

| OKay I have done the gambit with drivers, going as low as windows default then installing the original reference drivers that came with it and it still happens. Power: The Mobo runs at a icy 20C, the CPU at 40C and the GPU never runs higher then 61C, so I doubt it is cooling. The power supply is a 500w Raidmax Dual fan cooled. It is with all my D3D games, even Quake 1 in D3D. I never hibernate the machine either. |

| How are you getting these temperatures? Are they idle temperatures or when the system is under load?

| Under load. Checking with PC PROBE 2. Seems though that after a intense game of Quake 4 on Ultra with X4 FSAA the GPU pushed 72 and the CPU 60, but no lagging or pausing at all

| yeah its not the temperatures. My laptop runs hotter then that and I dont have any problems unless im blocking the vent and my GPU accidentally gets up to around 90C.
