Default Mac Apps.

I need something to make me want to use my iMac laying around. When I got it I was exited and coudn't wait to use it when I got home. But now there isn't any reason for me to get on it when I really want to. I have OS X 10.3 just incase you were going to ask. I just want something that will make me think macs arent completely worthless to me.

You could start by upgrading to Mac OS X 10.5

I'd say you could play around with LiveQuartz or Acorn as they're basically simplified versions of Photoshop but many, many times faster. The reason for their speed is that they use the system's graphics card for filtering and rendering of every pixel. Fast is an understatement here. The catch for you is that these programs require at least OS X 10.4 and a decent video card for GPU acceleration (Geforce 5200FX or Radeon 9600 or faster).

You could always try your hand at creating Fractals with Fractal Domains. Its system requirements are modest.

What iMac have you got?
There are a lot of fun stuff you could do with a Mac, especially Leopard since it comes with iLife 08 and XCode. You can also install Blender and GIMP if you are into graphics and the likes.

Well what are you looking for? There are applications that fit nearly every niche.

I really do you wish you had OS X 10.5 and a machine with a decent graphics cards. LiveQuartz and Acron are just impressive.

OS X 10.5 does not come with iLife 08.
OS X 10.5 does include XCode.

Really? iLife 08 came with my MacBook and no it is not a trial.

But now I think about it, you get iLife with a new Mac, not included in Mac OS X Leopard default install.

My bad
