The memory space is now flat in x86-64 where there were tons of old arcane tricks dating back to the x86's 8 bit roots under 32 bit mode. The 64 bit mode reduces a lot of headaches but for older programs that were programmed around these issues, it is a compatibility concern.
That clarifies a lot.
Thanks

Because not every application for OSX is open-source?

Not every application that runs under Linux is open source either.

soon you'll have the same number of open source apps on both, KDE 4 is coming to Mac OS X (and Windows) that'll port a lot of KDE apps

The same thing that seems to happen in every computer related thread. You could have made a thread called PC with nothing in the first post, and it probably would have ended up the same way.

Motherboard:XFX nForce 780i 3-Way SLI roughly 200euros
RAM: GEIL 4GB (2x2GB) 800MHz DDR2 Black Dragon 85euros
Power: Gigabyte Odin GT 800W roughly 100-150euros
Hard drive: WESTERN DIGITAL Caviar WD3200AAJS 320GB 7k 8MB SATA300 65euros
Disc drive: LG GSA-E40L 60euros

$2700. Quite a bit over

800w is nowhere near enough power for 3 GTXs.
320gb HDD? Pleh.
60 euros for a DVD writer? Pleh.

OK, so I overdid the price a little, but that's around 2500 dollars, you overpriced it a bit. The euro is 80dinars and the dollar is 60 dinars, the writer can be replaced by a cheaper one and for the price it can be lowered by cutting the ring of one GTX.
