I've never been a big fan of Blender. I think for high-end applications, you can't beat the commerical versions. I love 3DS Max, and Cinema 4D is pretty good. There are a few smaller apps like Silo and Modo which are cool too.

But I'm just an amateur hobbyist, and I've seen some nice stuff done with Blender.

Open Source apps can be as good if not better than closed source apps, and some of them are a commercial success.

I dunno if I should get the beta for this or not.

On one hand, the IE7 beta release was actually pretty good, and for some strange reason, I found the final release to be lesser (it had less features in it).

On the other, I dunno if I want to beta test for a web browser I have stopped using due to identity theft that I fell victim to because of IE that I never have with Firefox.

FireFox to a IE of any kind would be a downgrade. Wait until IE12 before you make the jump

Done with blender (in the gallery on their site blender.org):

But you get the best result with blender using an external renderer

as for web browsers. I can see why people still use IE, it comes with windows and I don't expect everyone find the better options out there. I'm surprised people still use netscape! even if it's only 0.65%

Blender can do some nice stuff, but the commerical apps are of a much higher quality.
