Default Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1

So I was checking W3Schools Online Web Tutorials for browser statstics and I came across the following:

Quote:
Internet Explorer 8 public beta 1 was released March 5th 2008.

Microsoft has annonced that Internet Explorer 8 will interpret web pages according to strict W3C standards by default.

Previously, Microsoft announced that IE 8 would use the "IE7 standard" as default, and that interpreting web pages according to strict W3C standard would be a secondary option. This created strong reactions in the web developer community, as the "IE 7 standard" does not completely conform to W3C.

However, Microsoft have now reversed this decision, and it looks like Internet Explorer 8 will be truly standards-compliant.

IE 8 has full support for CSS 2.1. In addition, it fixes "many cross-browser inconsistencies such as get/set/removeAttribute, default attributes, Attribute object and the < Q > tag.

New fatures:
Activities provide quick access web services. Users can look up and send information from the Web. On a restaurant web site, for example, the user can click within the page to get maps, news, and information about the restaurant, blog about it, or share it on Facebook.

WebSlices is an RSS-like feature that allows users to subscribe to content directly within a page.
Internet Explorer

To Download:
Download details: Windows Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 for Windows XP

Download details: Windows Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008

Download details: Windows Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 for Windows Vista 64-bit Edition and Windows Server 2008 64-bit Edition

I'm on a Windows box and I'm going to give it a try.

Microsoft never really cared about standards. But they claim IE8 is standard-complaint so I don't know

There are better browsers, you've got Camino and Shiira for example. You should give them a try

If you've got a Mac, use Safari. It uses Web-shit.

That name is not justified. Webkit is based on KHTML (Konqurer) and for the longest of time, Konqurer was my favorite Linux browser. I actually have Konqurer installed on Windows. Konqurer is moving to Webkit, since Apple made the core of Safari (Webkit) opensource and available for developers.
Webkit is the best rendering engine as far as I'm concerned. You can check bench tests and see how much faster than the more popular Trident and Gecko it is.

Guess why Safari runs faster on Mac than Firefox? Cos Crapple gave the Webshit developers access to undocumented APIs. That's why I don't like it.

Well, I'm Back: Platform Tilt

I'm on IE8 right now and it isn't so good. Safari On Windows renders a lot faster.
The quick reply doesn't work properly for some reason on IE8.

The good news it passes Acid2 test
