Firefox has a better interface than both.

Ah, I see.

So how come the EU fines microsoft but not Apple then? What is apple doing different from microsoft that it can get away with not being fined?

It's a non-issue because no one cares about Apple.

The issue against Microsoft is that they don't apply the standards or care about them. Believe it or not, Safari is fully standard complaint, but even if it wasn't people wont really care

Safari (web browser) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Safari 2 passed Acid2 in late 2005, while IE8 is the first IE to pass the Acid2 test, which checks for standard compliance.

yes but another thing was that they "bundle the browser with the OS"

Apple does that. They should receive a partial fine. Either that or undo MSs fine since they are playing fair with the standards now.

And if that isn't enough, Explorer is a vital component in windows, Internet Explorer is more than just for internet, but navigating through files and folders on your PC as well, which Safari doesn't have. Therefore, there is a plausible reaosn that IE is bundled with, what's Apple's excuse?

IE8 and FF3 are both currently horrible.

I'm so disappointed with FireFox 3.

1. The icons are horrible, and while this can be changed with a skin, the default ones on 2 are nice.
2. I couldn't find a way to turn off the messy "Google-search" address bar. When I type in letters, I just want the web address, not further information on that site.
3. FireFox 2 4 eva.

Microsoft integrated IE with Windows Exploder so it can have some sort of an excuse, they can disintegrate them if they wanted but they don't. A lot of hackers managed to remove IE completely from Windows, so it isn't a necessary component.
In the case of Apple, it has to due with as I said applying the standards, Microsoft bundles IE with Windows, and IE isn't standard complaint. That becomes a big issue. IE has like +75% market share and Windows has 90%, for this much market share to be dominated by a product that doesn't comply to any international agreed-upon standards is a big and serious legal issue.
Mac has what? 5% of the computer market, and some estimates say it has no more than 3.5%. So Safari being bundled wont be an issue even if it weren't standard complaint.

Download Opera Web Browser

You may want to give Konqueror for Windows a try, but it is still an alpha.

Oh noes, god forbid that software that is still quite a bit away from production should have faults.

Hey E6600, remember when Canonical shoved out an update on Ubuntu that bricked a few peoples machines? OH SHI-

Even Windows update had its faults, sometimes bricking down machines
You really can't compare the Big Giant with Canonical which isn't even a blip on the radar

But it remembers what you were doing last! So if it crashes, you don't lose anything.
