While not specific to FireFox as it works with all web browsers, I use Privoxy to reduce the amount of ads I encounter online. In a similar, it-works-with-everything approach, I also use a custom hosts file further reduce the number of ads encountered. The hosts file can also be used to block ads with other online services if you know where the ads are coming from.

I don't use FireFox as may main browser but I do have it installed. The ad blocking software I've linked works equally well on all browsers so it is a handy tool for those who use multiple browsers, FireFox included.

They are also effective at removing all the ads on NGW.

With IE Tab, Firefox becomes nothing but a shell to IE. IE Tab needs IE to work, and with IE Tab you are using IE and not Firefox, which beats the whole purpose of using Firefox
