Or Mozilla care about other things than high-fiving themselves over standards that have little to no bearing on the day to day browsing habits of their userbase.

Standards are important!
I don't want to end up with Firefox-only websites! All websites should work with all browsers, all browsers should comply to standards!

Perhaps, but IE can access standard websites. The browsers you use can't access IE websites. Therefore, IE > everything except Firefox.

I don't even see the harm in that since Firefox is better than all the others.

Fewer people use FF over IE, therefore the majority of internet sites that are intended to harm your computer are written to exploit IE flaws. By using any other browser (basically), you can avoid simple exploits that it has taken Microsoft a long time to fix.

Not everyone uses IE, IE is not cross-platform and it is totally wrong to have sites that don't work with all major browsers. Stop being an MS Fanboi. The WWW belongs to no one! Not Microsoft and not Mozilla, there are standards for a reason, and all web pages should be designed with interoperability in mind

IE utilizes ActiveX, no other browser uses them, and thank heaven for that, ActiveX is insecure and can easily let malicious code takeover Windows.

There won't be Firefox only sites. Stop being such a scare monger. Half of the ACID3 tests are for SVG support. Show me a site other than Wikipedia that makes use of SVG...

There are sites that work with IE and Firefox but don't work with Safari, Opera or Konqueror.

Browser Statistics

Oh look, the 3 that aren't supported aren't very popular. Do you see?
