Uh no. Portal is a physics-based FPS puzzler. EchoChrome is an Escheresque perceptual puzzler that makes heavy use of optical illusions to achieve its gameplay.

I don't think anyone's hyping this as a reason to go buy a PS3.

I like my PS3 well enough, but I'd be lying if I didn't admit I'm somewhat jealous of the 2nd generation titles now hitting the 360 (Gears of War, Bioshock, Halo 3, Mass Effect). This problem is temporary however; once Final Fantasy XIII/VS and MGS4 arrive it'll go a long way toward erasing the envy - plus I always leave open the possibility of buying myself a 360 if Microsoft can ever get their production issues straightened out.
