Why gloat about a company who insisted on creating their own standard for the umpteenth time - and maybe FINALLY won once? You're setting yourself for humiliation and disappointment if you ask me - especially in backing a company like Sony in a tiny battle over a much larger war that you still might not win.

If anyone but Sony owned this format, I think it would've taken off even quicker - but it seems there are a lot of Sony haters out there who aren't budging on blu-ray. I love it, of course.
What are you talking about netflix is nearly singlehandedly putting blockbuster out of business

This comment, however, is not very respectable.

Maybe for a while Blockbuster got a little scared because they had nothing going on for online renting, but that time has come and gone. The second they got into the online renting business, all the Blockbuster faithful jumped all over it.

They should all actually be scared because it seems everyone's getting into the movie download or movie rental business (Apple, Amazon, HBO, Time Warner, every cable provider, etc., etc., etc.)

According a recent interview in EGM, Dille said that backwards compatibility may return.

Best Buy to promote and recomend Blu-ray over HD DVD

"Starting next month Best Buy says it will prominently display Blu-ray players and discs in its stores and recommend the format over rival HD DVD, according to a Reuters report.

"Because we believe that Blu-ray is fast emerging as that single format, we have decided to focus on Blu-ray products," Brian Dunn, Best Buy's president and chief operating officer, said in a statement Monday."
