Uhm, MKV isn't a codec...

H264 IS a codec, but nowhere near as prevalent as Xvid/DivX, regardless of whether it is better or not..

Actually, I looked it up and it should be able to. I actually haven't had my PS3 play any video file directly off its harddrive, all my videos are streamed wirelessly from my computer so I don't know if its being decoded or not.

MKV support would be awesome. I have found it very difficult to get the PS3 to play MKVs with subtitles, the only way I have been able to get it done is to demux the MKV and separate the subtitle stream then changing the file format for basic subtitle support.

Looking at getting a new game in the next week. Haven't decided on what, but I can see it being a toss up between Assassin's Creed, Uncharted or possibly Mario Galaxy. But I suppose anything could jump out at me.

Stringer said Sony sold 100,000 PS3 consoles in America last week.

Believe what you want.

Was at Future Shop today and they had a 2 for 1 special on Blu-Ray movies. Problem was there were about 6 different movies to choose from and I had no interest in any of them.

That's probably why they were on sale.

They also sold 100k in a month in France since 12 Oct: MAXCONSOLE - Playstation 3 - PS3 receives a major sales boost in France - 100k in a month

Just goes to show what a price cut can do.

At this rate it looks like they'll nearly double their life time sales in a single month.

No. It's more that I have a less than "mainstream" taste in movies. I think I saw one of the Pirates movies in there, Apocolypto, Invincible, Deja Vu and probably a couple more that slipped my mind.
