AND that was with Blu-Ray BOGO sales, so the actual ratio is much likely closer to 50%. I cannot WAIT til these sales come to an end (or HD DVD answers with one widescale BOGO sale of their own).

That's some nice spin, but only amazon.com had the BOGO offer and neither Ratatouille nor Spiderman 3 were included. You say these "sales", but look at the figures at the end:

Year To Date: BD 66, HD 34
Since Inception: BD 61, HD 39

Wasn't this the week that saw all those $99 players sold?

You mean Best Buy and Circuit City didn't participate? I find that hard to believe. I'm aware of the YTD, etc...don't need a constant reminder. (also remember, that's with 8 times the available hardware...so it's suddenly no longer impressive).

As far as I'm aware, based entirely on news, it was exclusive to selected Sony and Disney Blu-ray titles on amazon.com

I could be wrong, but I'm certain that's what it was.

As an aside, and mostly unrelated to the above, 2.01 firmware for PS3 is coming soon and PS3 should have profile 1.1 before the year is out.

Movie studios don't make players, they make movies, the movies are selling better on Blu-ray.

Also, wasn't there a report that 50% of PS3 owners didn't even know the thing plays Blu-ray movies or had HD? That was funny.

Movie studios need a better foundation of support than a frickin' games console unless you thought Warner was fibbin'.

Yes, I've seen that report...*if* they could get those folks on the bandwagon, this war might be concluded sooner rather than later, but that's another hypothesis yet to be realized.

While this is true, I think movies studios are more than happy to let Sony and Toshiba lose money over the entire thing. They really have nothing to lose by publishing on one or both formats, should one fail, they can resell on the other, should both fail, they've lost nothing anyway.

Hence the new PS3 ads which basically have to hold people's hands as they use the thing. Not being funny, PS3 has a lot of features and if you've never had a PSP, you have no idea what you're letting yourself in for.

"On 11/24 at 8:00am (running through 11:59pm on 11/25), the 80GB PS3 ($499) will come with 10 FREE Blu-ray movies instantly. You choose any 10 BD titles under $30 within the store and they will override the prices to zero. For those stores that carry BD already, additional titles are being sent in for the sale. For those that do not have BD in their store (a small minority) product will be sent to each store specifically for this sale.

Oh, and you still get your 5 FREE movies by mail."

Seeing that 15 Blu-Ray movies at $30 each would be $450 that's almost like buying 15 movies and getting a free PS3.
