they also said Samus vs chief will be an xbox exclusive

Samus would still kick his ass.

This brings me to another point.

Why is it, that in the future, people feel the need to wear restrictive suits of armour rather than a suit that would realistically allow easy movement in harsh terrains, espcially if they've got shields?

Suits of armour can be shinier and therefore more futuristic looking.
