Let's just hope Sony can treat its customers with more respect than it has in the past or blu-ray's apparent victory could be a sad day for us all.

If Sony steps up, then I'm glad the war could finally be coming to an end. It'll still be a while before there's an actual end, though.

Warner Home Video will continue to release its titles in standard DVD format and Blu-ray. After a short window following their standard DVD and Blu-ray releases, all new titles will continue to be released in HD DVD until the end of May 2008.
Looks like HDDVD pretty much has until May to figure out what they need to do.

Abandon ship and admit that HD-DVD is a crap format and never going to win.

That seems like a good idea.

I don't care which "format" wins, I just wish Sony wasn't involved. If you can't understand why then you have inner ear issues that are throwing off your balance.

Sony would be involved reguardless, just like CD and DVD.

If HD-DVD were to win, have no doubt Sony would get some Blu-ray specs in there somewhere.

Seen posted by a good friend of mine in real life elsewhere:

True, but not like they'll have with blu-ray being it's mostly "Sony's format."

We'll see what happens, but my guess is that Sony is going to take as much advantage of this, and us, as it can. A movie studio having most of the rights to the main movie media format will be interesting to watch.

I might do so from the sidelines.

Wonder what kind of effect this will end up having on PS3 sales. Doubt you'll see much boost right away, but if this truly is the end of HDDVD you'd ever to figure that we might see some sales increases, maybe by the summer.
