IN refrence to the first page with the MGS4 PS3, Is snake airbrushed on to it.... or is that just showing that the PS3 is shiny??

If it is airbrushed then I am selling my current one to my buddy and getting this one on release.

News: MGS4 has '90 minute' cut-scenes - ComputerAndVideoGames.com

Quote:
We know the Metal Gear Solid series is famous for its long cut-scenes, but this tops everything! Metal Gear Solid 4, the latest instalment in Hideo Kojima's seminal stealth series, has cut-scenes (note the plural) that approach the 90 minutes mark.

For those troubled with time keeping, that's the length of a feature film.

The news comes from PSW magazine, who's been and finished MGS4, and then promptly whispered in our ears about the shocking 90-minute cut-scenes. The latest issue hits newsstands today, by the way.

We were expecting long story sequences (MGS2 approached the 45 minute mark in one) but an hour and a half of cinematics was unexpected.

The good news is that you can now skip or pause the scenes. Hands up though, how many of you are actually going to sit through the full 90 minutes?

"MGS4's story is massive. The videogame equivalent of all three Godfather movies on one disc," says the mag.

"As you'd expect, you'll spend a lot of time watching cut-scenes, so if you found previous games' story exposition laborious, then you'd better find yourself a nice cushion and plenty of teabags in readiness for MGS4's.

"They can be skipped, but you'll be missing out on some of the finely crafted examples of FMV footage anywhere in gaming," the article boldly proclaims.
That just sounds like insanity to me. The only MGS game I have played is 3 and all the lengthy cut scenes seemed to make it hard for me to get into the game, but multiple movie length cut scenes? That's too much for me.

I remember in MGS2 near the end there was an hour-long codec conversation with raiden...skipping thru it took almost half an hour

The 90-minute cutscene rumor probably isn't true.

MGS4 features 90 minute cut scenes [UPDATE] :: PlayStation Universe (PSU)

Quote:
Update: The reviewer for GamePro who has played through MGS4 has left this comment about the 90 minute rumor.
"I've beat the game twice, and am the author of the forthcoming [GamePro] review," Shuman said. "Ninety-minute-long cinemas in MGS4 sounds like an exaggeration. Like the other MGS games, MGS4 definitely has a cinematic quality. And yes, some of the cut-scenes in the game are elaborate and occasionally lengthy. But not a one, to my recollection, even approaches 90 minutes."

Always good to see how reliable different sources are. One magazine says there are multiple 90 minute cut scenes while another magazine says there aren't any scenes that approach 90 minutes. The next magazine will probably state they're both crazy and that there are no cut scenes in the game at all.

Ok, I was wondering.... I never actually got into the MGS series, but thats not to say I don't like it. I think it looks like an amazing series. I've bought MGS3 but there is just something about PS2 games that I can't get used to. I don't know what it is but I just can't get into old games anymore. I've even tried my all time favourite SOCOM, and still I just get annoyed of the aged controls and graphics. As I said I picked up MGS3 to get a taste of the characters and the game in general, I find that the controls in it are particularly hard to get used to. Did anyone else find it that way? I always feel the need to play the game but the controls just piss me off to much to play it.

Anyways, I was wondering if buying MGS4 (cause it looks rediculously good and polished...) would be a an ok buy, seeing as ive 1: Never played the previous games 2: I don't like the controls of the game. I've thought that it would be ok to buy it seeing as each game really has its own different plot (they do don't they?), but I just don't want to buy something that really doesn't have control configurations that I would like.

Hope to hear from some of the fans out there. I'm posting this now obviously because the game released yesterday....

Thanks.

I played Twin Snakes and gave it a 10, so I'm qualified to answer this.

Yeah I played mgs3 for about 5 minutes on a friends ps2, I didn't even move past the first screen. Totally jarring, you're not alone. I'm sure it's great though, read the manual.

The plot is totally circuitous and relies heavily upon knowledge of the previous games. From what I gather. But ykno, whatever.

They've been fixed.

Got a ps3? You're going to end up playing this game one way or another, so, I don't even know why I posted.
