I can get a used 40GB w/ 3 games and 2 controllers for 300$, should I?

Hey guys, I was wondering if you think I could make the leap to PS3 finally.

Here's what's going on:

I have been saving for a computer, and Im nearly there, I decided to go with AMD instead of Intel, the final machine will cost me about 700$ and Im nearly there.

But then I got word of this offer and it sounds really good. But I dunno if I would actually KEEP the system, or try to turn it for a profit or something.

Anyway, here's what it has:

40 GB PS3, not too old, the guy has had it for 3 months ish and the guy he bought it from bought it brand new about 4 months ago, so its 7 months.
3 games - Call of Duty 4, Tiger Woods 08, and The Darkness
2 Controllers - One is official Sony Six Axis with charge cable, and the other is a USB corder air cooler type controller, my friend that told me about the deal said that it is a good controller too.
System is in great shape so Im told.

I checked prices on EBAY for this kinda thing, and I would pay about the same on EBAY for a similar setup, maybe even a bit more after shipping, but the fact that the deal is only somewhat cheaper overall will make it hard for me to turn the profit route. And I was really hoping to get a non 40GB system for backwards compatibility reasons.

I dunno if he has the spiderman 3 Bluray that comes with the system or not, or if he has the box and stuff, so I'll ask him about it. Im gonna try to talk him down to 250$ or something, because he seemed desperate for cash, or maybe at least if I can just pay 250$ now and get the other 50 to him in a couple weeks. I dunno if he has took the system online, but consider the lack of games and the fact that he's not a hardcore gamer, I doubt it.

So, should I buy it? Should I pass? Should I perhaps buy a "broken" system off ebay and get it repaired? If I bought it, would I still be covered under the manufacturer warranty, or would it be void because Im not the original owner?

$300 is not a bad price, but really you're talking about:

40GB PS3
Call of Duty 4
1 extra controller

Total value about $500 new.

Since you say BC is an issue, I'd pass on this deal. It's not good enough to be a "steal" and doesn't fit what you want.

If BC is really a huge factor than passing would be the wise option. Although if you could get him to drop the price to $250 you could probably get a used PS2 for the $50 that you're saving. Unless you're looking for the whole thing in one package option, in which case passing would probably be the wise option.

I asked him if he would let it go for 250 and he said he already had 2 offers of 300 and 340, he was just seeing if I would buy it before friday.

It'll be a risky venture if I go the full 300, so Im calling it off.

If you don't want the 3 games that it comes with you could always sell those at least and get some money back that way.
