Nhl 09

Anyone else play this? Its got a cool online team feature which would work great if we got some people together. Or we could just have the odd game. Its better made from last years, with a good framrate and more content its a must have for sports game lovers.

Where'd you get it? Most places(including TV ads) list it as being in stores on Thursday. I know the official release date was today though. I saw 2K9 at Future Shop today but they didn't have 09 yet. I hope to get it but I don't know for sure yet.

EB games had it around 3pm today. I called in not expecting it to be out and BAM they said they had plenty of copies.

Finally got it today. Haven't played yet but I'll be hitting Be a Pro shortly. Maybe check out the EASHL as well.

A good game so far. Mostly just played Be a Pro so far and a couple games online. BAP is decent but still needs some work before it is great. The MLB series' Road to the Show mode is far superior but I've been eagerly awaiting this type of mode in a hockey game, so it's good enough. Plus I may have just been given an invitation to join an EASHL team so hopefully that will be fun.

Looks like my EASHL invite went nowhere. I may have to start my own team or look harder for a team I can join.

Been spending most of my time in Be a Pro thus far. It's fun but needs a lot of work. MLB The Show has a much more in depth and realistic version. NHL 09 vavours the created player too much. Mine started as the 2nd highest rated player on my AHL team and it only took about 15 games to get called up after averaging 25-30 minutes of ice time on each of the first 3 lines. Progression should be much slower, lines should get more realistic ice time, and line advancement shouldn't happen so much. It should be done if the team needs a shake up, line chemistry is weak, or a player above you is struggling.

All that being said it is still a really good game.

Ya I agree with all of that. It does favour your character to much sometimes. I'm the leading player on the Marlies about 10 games into the season. It's still a great add-on to a great franchise though.

Well, I don't watch much hockey (boffo and I have had this conversation) but I LOVE BAP on NHL 09.

I totally understand it's not hard-core realistic in terms of ice time and even the stats. I got called up to the Canucks after about 12 games in the AHL and after four games have 5 goals already as a 'playmaker' center.

But man...it's crazy fun and entertaining! And the drama is still there for me as well, because some games I just can't seem to 'crack' the goalie no matter how much I shell the guy, so when I finally can get one by him I and high-five with my wife! LOL

This game is so cool...and seeing my on-ice avatar out there makes me want to go to nhl.com and get myself a customized Canucks jersey to match!

I agree that there is certainly a feeling of pride when you score a goal. Especially when most of the ones I end up scoring have me picking the far top corner. Main problem I have now is that I'm currently on fire along with the rest of the 2nd line on the Bruins, but I know that I'll most likely be promoted to the 1st line in another game or two at the expense of our leading goal scorer who'll end up on the 2nd line. I'd much rather stay where I am now.

It seems to me in the game that no matter which line I'm on I get the same ice time, which is a lot. Not complaining; just sayin...just get to play with different players lol.
