While crashing and doing donuts mid circuit the other day in GT Prologue I had a chat with SCEE NZ’s Marketing Manager Dave Hine and Paul Gunn (PR Extraordinaire) about the sales figures for GT Prologue and whether they thought the online would outsell the hard copy on Blu Disc. They expressed their surprise at the popularity of War Hawk as down-loadable software and said that they anticipated GT to receive an even warmer welcome when it comes out later this month.

Also mentioned in the conversation was that the pre-order figures for the SCEE regions show orders already at one million. Making the PS3’s first pre release Platinum title.

Are we sure this isn't just Sony using their "pre-book to retailers" numbers?

It's not a demo. I don't see how you can call a game a demo when it has more features than the newest Forza with a $20 markdown. Plus all the content for the Prologue will be free (cars, tracks etc).

There's only been one Prologue before, GT4 P, it sold about 1,3M worldwide and 400 000 in Europe. Gt Concept 2002 Tokyo-Geneva sold about a million in Europe. (according to Wikipedia)

Apart from those that were called demo, I believe they only had GT4 Prologue and the GT Concept series.There were three concept games in 2001-2002 following GT3, and of course GT HD Concept.

Insanity? I don't really know. It's a freaking high number, but it's also a very strong household name in Europe. GT3 sold 5.8 mill i Europe (NA: 7M) , and GT4 for sold 5.6 mill in Europe (double of the NA). US may have lost interest, not Europe.

Prologue should sell well. PD have done well.

That's really quite huge.
