Resistance Tournament Sign-up and info

I am going to go ahead and try to get a tournament going for Resistance. If you want to participate please sign up here, along with listing what time zone you're in, so that'll help make it easier to set up games.

The basic structure will be a series of 1 vs. 1 matches that will take place over two stages. The first stage will be a ranking round of matches where everyone will play the same number(most likely 3) of preliminary matches to determine your seed in the single elimination tournament that follows. Points will be awards as follows, 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, and 0 points for a loss.

Since this is a ranking round all matches must be played under the same format. The format I'm currently looking at:
Game Type: Deathmatch
Map:Somerset(8p) - can be changed if the majority prefers a different map.
Timer:10 min. - can be changed if longer or shorter matches are preferred.
Each match will consist of just 1 round
Allow spectators:Yes
# of lives: Off
1-hit kills: Off
Health Regeneration: On
All weapons
Species:Human
Points to win: Off

Once your match is done outcome(win, loss, tie) along with kills and deaths. Ranking will be determined by most points during preliminary round. In the event of a tie, the tiebreakers are as follows:
1. Most wins(ie. 2 people have 3 points, one had a win, a loss, and a tie, while the other had 3 ties. The person with the one win would get the higher seed).

2. Best kill/death ratio

3. Most kills

If still tied after all that than the higher seed would be determined by a coin flip.

Once all preliminary matches are complete then the seeding will be done with 1st place playing against last place, 2nd place playing 2nd to last, etc. After each round the following round will be played with the highest remaining seed playing the lowest remaining seed.

Since the tournament is a single elimination tournament with each match producing a winner and a loser the game format does not have to follow the same format as the preliminary round. It will be used by default, but if the two participants can agree on changes then that is fine. So if you rather play capture the flag, or have 1-hit kills, make it a best of 5 rounds series or whatever it's fine as long as both agree before the start of the match, otherwise the default format will remain.


If we have an uneven number of players the higher seeded players will be given byes in the 1st round. The tournament will then continue until only one player remains as the victor, earning the bragging rights(and possibly a sig award, if someone feels like making one.)

I'll probably let the sign-ups run for the next week so probably next Friday I'll set up the preliminary round matches and you can start getting in touch with the opponents that you have to get your games set up at a time that is conveniant for both of you.

I think that covers everything, but if I think of anything else I'll add it, and if anyone has any questions go ahead and ask them. This is just for fun, so I hope no one goes all psycho in taking it too seriously. Everyone is welcome to join, so if you're a member that only has a few posts, don't think you're excluded from participation in this, just make sure that you're willing and able to take the time to come here and set up matches or else this won't work very well.

So whoever is interested post here along with your PSN ID, time zone, map preference(if you don't want 8 player Somerset) and game length preference(if you want something other than 10 minutes). You've got a week before this starts so that gives everyone some time to get in some practice, and make sure to add everyone involved to your Resistance friend's list.

I'm sure your opponent will be thrilled to know this after they show up an hour "late" for your match.
