I just got another idea. How about we make like a Rotton Tomatoes like site but for games?

Been done to death I'm afraid. I would like to see some more obscure stats and comparisons between the big three like:
1. Third-party sales vs first-party sales in $ and/or units sold.
2. How much DLC was bought.
3. The games with the most DLC sales. (Rock Band being #1 probably)
4. Consoles shipped vs consoles sold.
5. The Hypometer (Upcoming games with most hype behind them[popularity poll])
6. The Big Pie (Consoles bought [X360,PS3,Wii])
7. The Little Pie (Handhelds bought [PSP, PSP Slim, DS, DS Lite])
8. The Micro Pie (DLC sales [PSN, XBL, WiiStore])
9. The Pie of Death (Console Failures [X360, PS3, Wii])
10. Profit chart

The console war is a war of statistics. So lets give them some statistics.

Most of those would be cool to have, but a lot of them would be very hard to get info for. Stuff like DLC and profits usually just get mentioned by each respective company and DLC is sadly never broken down much beyond "We've had this many downloads on the network". Accurate console failures would be even harder since no one is going to report accurate numbers.

I suppose we could claim that we have various inside contacts that provide us with a large enough sample size and then we use a special top secret formula to extrapolate those numbers but that's already being done by another site.

I will continue to do my stats package each month based upon the NPD numbers and if anyone can find accurate numbers for anything else then we encourage those to be posted and/or analyzed.

And I'll also mention that we are still working on redoing the home page but with holidays going on now we were without Daver there for a couple days and Romanc is currently away. Once we all have the time we will hopefully focus our attention on the home page. Then I guess we'll have to look at increasing the membership since hopefully we'll have the page reorganized to a way we like it.

I like all these ideas. As boffo said this would be dificult to do in depth but I say we only show the amounts the manufacturers claim to have sold/shipped every 3 months. That way we'll have accurate figures and it will be easy to update once every 3 months.
