Default Rock Band Wii dated, no online play or DLC

IGN: Rock Band Announced
Quote:
Harmonix, MTV Networks and Electronic Arts on Monday announced that the popular music game, Rock Band, will debut for Wii on June 22 in America and Canada. The package includes the title itself, a set of drums, a microphone and wireless guitar, and will set players back approximately $169.99. Rock Band for Wii features 63 songs, five of which are "bonus" tracks presumably exclusion to the version.
[...]
Disappointingly, it appears as though Rock Band for Wii will support neither online play nor downloadable content -- huge, glaring omissions. One of the game's biggest draws on other consoles is the steady stream of downloadable songs, which can be purchased and then utilized in-game very easily.
Wow, BS. Looks like I'll be getting GHIII after all.

Not even sure what MTV/Harmonix is playing at here. GHIII it self has online, and Fuck Even WiiWare games have DLC.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that's not all.

I messaged hmxsean on Rock Band Forums for details:

"The feature-set is a lot closer to the PS2 version of Rock Band which was also developed by Pi Studios. We've decided to focus on getting the core gameplay on to the Wii and focus on making that awesome."

You mentioned that in the official press release thread...but I don't get it. What do you mean by "feature-set"? And how would it be closer to the Ps2 version?

Like..is that necessarily hinting that we won't have character customization like the 360/Ps2 do? Will it be "gimped"?

What I got back:

I have a problem with the owrd "gimped" in the sense that it makes it seem like we are putting out a game that won't work. We are putting a game out that works on the Wii. The character creator won't be in there nor will the 360/PS3 version of Band World Tour (although you will be able to play a more linear 4-person tour like on the PS2). We wanted to get the game on to the Wii, and the only way to really do that was to focus on the core gameplaye (4 people playing instruments simultaneously).

No DLC, No BWT, No Online Play/Leaderboards, No Character Creation. No Sale. Tell me, what's left? Guitar Hero w/ different instruments? Funny thing is, I actually SOLD Guitar Hero to buy Rock Band Wii :'[ At least I made a profit when I sold it...

Fcuk yeah, and fuck anyone ragging on this for being a complete game instead of one you have to keep paying for.
