So, where do you plan on fitting your mp3's? 512mb is pretty small and even SD cards get expensive real fast at higher capacities. No, I'm not trying to flame I'm seriously wondering.

I think that if people can just be kind of smart and only put the songs they really really like on them it'd be ok. It won't work for me though I have about 50 gigs of music but only about 20 gigs are stuff i'd listen to every day. Either way it wouldn't be that bad, I mean after all some people buy PSP for a media player and then SD cards cost alot for that so it can't be to bad.

Well my 4gb SanDisk stick for my PSP was only $40. I don't bother putting music on it though, I only have about 1gb left after all my games and stuff. Instead I can just stream music from my PC. Streaming music makes the most sense, it doesn't take up any room other then on your PC. Only problem is having to be at a WiFi hot-spot, which wouldn't matter for a console.

I play MP3's in PhotoChannel, and aside from WiiFit and SSB, the biggest thing I am waiting for is some kind of real MP3 player channel on the Wii.

Why am I playing music through the Wii PhotoChannel? --- Currently it's the easiest way for me to play MP3's.

I have no PC, no internet connection, no portable MP3 player and no modern multi-format DVD player. I intentionally setup my new apartment like this because I wanted a simpler life, and it's made me a lot happier! I work enough on a computer all day at my job, I don't need it at home. I don't even have cable tv (I watch 5 antenna channels) or phone (my company pays for my BlackBerry): Can you say SAVINGS? My place is for food, sex, beer, sleep, music, games and basic TV/DVD.

So far, using the Wii is the easiest way for me to play a bunch of MP3 files. Every 2 weeks or so, I go back to my old PC at my mom's and just load up some new music on my 2gb SD card. My collection is like 35gb on one HD (but also split up onto multiple DVD discs for when I go travelling).

In using the PhotoChannel, I've fallen in love with how easy it is to scroll files. And I'd like to maintain this same interface and have high hopes it will make a killer MP3 channel.

It's great, I could be jumping around doing air-guitar or whatever, and it's pretty easy to just quickly flip to the next song without having to walk over to a PC or unit and press&click stuff. Any other remote-control solution does not offer the speed and responsiveness of the Wiimote. No other remote solution works as well - DVD player remote, remote for a PC or media centre, remote for a portable mp3 player, etc, nothing works as well as the wii-mote.

Yea, a portable MP3 player seems like a solution for a person like me, maybe I'll look into it. It would have to be able to do video-out to TV, and have a remote control, possibly. This narrows it down to stuff like iPod, Creative Zen, and Archos. All of which will cost like 500 bones or whatever, and will just add to the jumble of electronics around my entertainment system.

The main limitation to the Wii solution is storage, but look, it's got USB ports. There will be USB mass storage options in no time at all. Hopefully we'd be able to use USB HDD enclosures with it. If that comes about, then I will simply plug my MP3 harddrive in, and that is THAT brooothers.

In the meantime I guess I will just keep visiting my mom & sis every 2 weeks to refresh my 2gb music card, I don't see my family enough anyways. Forces me to be choosy about my music too.

THESE ARE GOOD THINGS

Why? Through the Internet channel, you can stream all kinds of music. It'll just be a waste.

They should get customized soundtracks like Excite Truck...
more games should use that as an option, even if they have an epic ost
