It still doesn't really change the game. It's not really any different than how each Kart drives differently based on who's driving it.

I suppose... the motorcycles just don't bother me that much I guess. It seems to me that disapproving of Motorcycles in Mario Kart because it should only be karts is like not approving of 3rd party characters in Brawl because it should only be nintendo characters.

It should only be Nintendo characters. With all these 3rd party characters you miss out on classic characters like that guy on a motorcycle from Excitebike, what's their names from Pilot Wings 64, and Glass Joe. Who needs Sonic when you could be Glass Joe?

Motorcycles effectively double the amount of characters, because if they karts all handle differently and the bikes handle differently from the karts, then it just means more stuff to learn.

Not the same as being a playable character. They're just making a lame attempt to entice the Excitebike crowd into buying the game.

I still hook up my SNES even just to play Super Mario Kart and Super Mario World.

They go in this order for me: Super Mario Kart>Mario Kart DS>Mario Kart 64 ? Mario Kart DD (I actually never bothered to play Double Dash, heard it wasn't great)
