I've only played Mario Party 5. It's always fun with some friends and it has some good extras outside the main boardgame. The gameplay would probably have to change a bit to work online. Having to wait for other people to take their turns would be kind of frustrating, especially if there's no way to communicate with the other players.

I have 1 and 3 and haven't played any of the others. I'd have been happy with 1 if it was just a collection of 50 different versions of Bumper Balls.

What really needs to die in the Mario Party games is the turn-based gameplay. Nothing like sitting on your thumbs for minutes on end between minigame bouts with your friends.
