Default Mario Party 9?

Alright, I personally don't know if it was confirmed or not, but let's face it. Whether we like this franchise or not, Mario Party 8 sold like hotcakes. Given the fact that it is also the 8th in the series, those two factors alone lead me to belive we'll be seeing MP9 very soon. My question to you all are: What would you like to see in this one that could make it possibly better than 8? Yes, no matter what, it will be a re-hash, but what could make it a GOOD rehash?

It seemed to me that MP8 was a port. Again, don't know whether that's true or not, but it didn't even have 16:9 screen setting. That's the first and formost gripe I had with 8. If 9 had that, it would be a step in the right direction.

Also with 9, it would be nice to have online compatibility. I mean the franchise would grow so much more if it had that. Even Mario Party haters admit that it makes an okay party game, and they make the point that single player sucks. So... make it online, then you can play with real people whenever you want.

So to make my personal ideal Mario Party 9, I would like 16:9 screens, Online play, and a touch up on some graphics, to take it from GC level to Wii level. As for the game itself, I never had a problem with the formula of them, but I know a lot of you do. What would you like to change about it?

Online would be sweet.

But it's an old franchise, it really needs a new dev team.

What would a new Dev team do differently though? I mean, given the fact that MP8 sold so well, I'm almost willing to bet that as far as game wise, not much will change in MP9, except maybe some graphic changes, since I belive MP9 would be built for the Wii from the ground up. I seriously want online though. I never really thought about MP9 having online functionality until now, but it would be awesome if it did.

A new dev team = new ideas.

Which the MP franchise desperatly needs.

It could probably use a break. There really isn't a need for a new one of these each year. It becomes even less relevant thanks to the prominence of mini games. I'd say push out 9 with online then give it a couple years of thought and work before bringing out 10.

Online multiplayer for Mario Party 9 would be a nice turnaround for the title. MP8 is shameful. My nephew has it, and even he isn't amused by it (then again, he's got very good taste in games).

Online, though wonderful, would be difficult. I mean, the games could potentially take a long time to complete, and that's a long time to go without someone loosing a connection or quitting. Maybe they could change the rules or format or something for online play. But I also agree with Boffo. Make MP9, update to take advantage of the Wii's better graphics, give it online, and give us a break from MP series for a while.
