IGN: Brawl Smashes Sales Records

Nintendo of America announced on Monday that Super Smash Bros. Brawl has become the fastest-selling game in the company's long history. More than 1.4 million gamers have purchased the fighter since its release on March 9, according to the publisher. Approximately 874,000 people, meanwhile, bought the game on the first day. The Big N added that Brawl has sold at a rate of approximately 120 units per minute since it shipped.

I think it would be for worldwide. It doesnt denote a region in the article. The fact that Nintendo of America is making the annoucment to an American site just makes sense.

Brawl's an awesome game. It would have gotten even better reviews if the online was better, but I'm still lovin it.

In Japan alone the game had already sold nearly a million within 4 days

that would mean Brawl sales are somewhere close to 3 million already

Halo 3 still beat it by 1 million copies, ish, if you only factor Halo 3's FIRST DAY sales.

I saw DKR in the guinness world record book a few years ago, this is a different statistic though. (I'm guessing.)
