MM vs FPS vs JRPGS _________________________________ usually set in the same time period? MM yes FPS depends on the series J nope new and unique enemies MM no FPS rarely J uncommon but yeah make an attempt to bring in something new MM very no FPS sometimes J nope

To realize how different they can be, just play a SMT game, Tales game, Fire Emblem game, Growlanser game and Atelier game. These game are very different from each other and are also very different from the classic and generic JRPGs like Dragon Quest, pre-XII Final Fantasy, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, etc... But sometimes new and innovative doesn't win hearts in JRPGs. Xenosaga was an epic series, and the 2nd Episode is one of my favorite all time games, to my way of thinking it had the best battle system of any JRPG. If you master it, you can really abuse it and put your enemies in a tough spot, but it didn't win a lot of hearts and so the 3rd and final episode, replaced it with a classic/generic battle system. Also Final Fantasy XII, tried to do things in a new way, and it ended up being one of my most hated games.
