Yeah, thank you for the idea.

I spent like a half an hour typing out the letter.

one web forum worth of online complaint emails is only a small dent on the number of emails nintendo probably gets per day about regular stuff. So hopeully this topic is having simlar results elsewhere as it is here. If enough people want it, surely nintendo will do it?

I don't think that this means one friend code per game.

AFAIK, Pokemon Battle Revolution has its own friend code because it used the DS online kit for its online capability.

Also, non-unified in-game friend lists != non-unified friend codes.

This is my take:

For example, you have two Wii friends, Blue and Red. You have their Wii codes in your address book. You run an online-enabled game (lets take MP3 for an idealistic example), and go to its online area. Blue also has MP3, so you go to the ingame friend list, and you go to add a friend to it. It displays your current list of Wii friends (Red and Blue), and you choose Blue, and he is now on your MP3 friends list. Both Blue and Red are on your system friends list, but only Blue is on your MP3 friends list. No extra friend code input required.

Simply put, there's one friend code per system, but each game has its own list of friends taken from the system pool.

That would be a nice way to have it since just because I want to play with Blue in one game, I wouldn't necessarily want to play with Blue in another game. Animal Crossing would be a prime example of game where you want to have a close look at whom you want to allow in or not.

How are you determining that? I'd much rather play a fighting game versus someone other than a computer. In the case of shooters, the best games are those that have great single player but extend longevity by including awesome multiplayer online combat.

Agreed..

This is mostly why I play PC games -- for awesome multiplayer online combat..

I play my Wii from time to time though, but I REALLY want online games in genres of FPS, MMORPG, MMO, RPG, Fighting, Sandbox, etc..

+ motion sensing

I think Axalon has a plausible interpretation of the interview. I don't find individual friend codes on games all that big of a deal. It would certainly be better if the system code was all there was to it though.
I'm pretty sure I remember it being talked about somewhere official that when you insert an online-enabled game, a message is sent to friends of yours that have that game as well. I don't see why it wouldn't just allow them to add you in that message. I'll look for a quote of what I'm talking about.
