Default 3rd party controllers

The original Xbox 360 controller is very good, but we all know the D-pad has issues. Most of the time that doesn't matter because the D-pad has no primary function in modern games. But a lot of arcade games suck when using the analog stick (Sonic!)

What 3rd party Xbox 360 controllers would you recommend for games that need a good D-pad?

He wants a d-pad probably though, not an arcade stick.

I have no problems playing 2D games with the analog stick, I do it on my 360 and also with my 360 pad on my computer for emulators and such, Its plenty responsive for me.

I rather stick with that myself than risk another 3rd party controller, they are usually of pretty poor quality.

I've read some reviews, but none seems to mention the d-pad. I found something interesting though; the Team Xtender XPFS is designed so you can hook it up with keyboard/mouse. Mouse support sucks according to IGN, but you can map almost anything to the keyboard, so playing using wasd or arrow-keys is possible. Ironically it also supports a PS2 controller, which has a good d-pad.

Review here.

I dunno...he said he wanted a controller with a good d-pad to play arcade games, so I figured the arcade controller would be perfect.

I've never used a 3rd party controller for any console.

I used that one with a fan in a store once though.
