I recently picked up SSX Blur last weekend, and to be honest, it's been nothing but fun. From riding down mountains to flying high in the air pulling of those Uber's; it's nothing but fun. Lets first start off from the beginning.

Basic Info: There are 12 characters in this game, including the infamous Mac :D There are 3 peaks, which you advance through by completing half pipe challenges, torunaments, races, and slalom. To carve in this game you simply tilt your wrist. Jumping is done by shifitng the nunchuck up. Spinning is done by moving the remote side to side, flipping by moving it up or down. Grabbing is done by tilting the nunchuck and holding the z buttton while in midair and throwing snowballs is done with the b :P

When I first bought this game, I wasn't too sure I was gonna enjoy it. I was missing jumps, bailing all the time, and occasionaly screaming my head off at the game. But then I remembered similar cases of people having a tough time with the game, so I just hung in there. ANd you know what? I got the hang of it. Yes. I did it. After 2 hours of practicing, I finally got the hang of the game and could pull off even tricks with ease. It was all coming clear to me then. It was going to be a fun ride. Ubertricks. Ubertricks were not the hardest thing for me to get down, but it's a problem for some people. (I personally think it should be hard because the reward is oh-so sweet) Lemme give you guys a hint, pause, go to ubertricks, and practice on your screen from there. You can keep practicing 'till it says good and you're off. Just remember to point your remote at the screen and to move the whole remote, not just the pointer. Also keep your shoulder locked for best chances.

I started boarding down Peak 1 and let me tell you, it was awesome. The feeling of having the wiimote in your hand and flipping on that half pipe, great. Well I did some races and said ok, let's go on to multiplayer. I picked the course and off me and my sister went. She picked up the controls for the first time, and almost beat me. I almost threw a fit o.O I don't know how she did it, but she did it. Anyway, multiplayer was really fun and I played it everyday after that. (Still on Peak 1 due to lack of 1player mode) All in all the graphics were great, and the sound too. I love the music, I always have the volume on my tv on high :D

Now on to the rating.

GAMEPLAY

I gave the gameplay and 8 because it really has a steep learning curve, but after that the controls work great. They pick up what I do with the remote and reads the ubertricks most of the time.

SOUND

Sound got a 10. Again, amazing, simply amazing soundtrack by Junkie XL. There's no voice acting, which is somewhat of a letdown because I miss the character's reactions and personalities but there's still the announcer I guess :

GRAPHICS

Graphics in SSX Blur also got a 10 from me. I love the art style, crisp snow effects, love the character style.

VALUE

I'd say it's definitely worth the $50. It's worth owning. I love playing it with my sisters and I will keep playing 1 player mode. It's pretty tough collecting everything in the game 100%. It takes about 15 hours to beat the game with one character, you could do it once for all 12 characters, but I wouldn't : Anyway I'll be playing this game for a long time.

Thank You for reading this review :D I hope you enjoyed it.

One of the better games released on the Wii thus far but it is far from being perfect. While very enjoyable to play it just isn't AAA quality.

Gameplay:
-The main question that arose when this game was announced is how the Wiimotes special motion sensing functionality would be used in the game. EA pulled of a miraculous feat in creating controls that not only worked well with the game but actually adding alot of depth. Thats not to say that the controls don't have their problems and they have created a rather steep learning curve which prevents this game from being €œpick up and play€. Another thing I have noticed with the game is that the move set (number of individual moves available has been downsized mainly (I assume) because they would be almost impossible to pull off with the new control scheme.
-One other issue that I would like to address is that once you get the control scheme figured out and get into the single player campaign it all seems rather short. You can finish the game relatively quickly and that may be an issue for some.
-I really enjoy this games multi player as it has been well integrated and well thought out. After all the options are unlocked this is a great party game (assuming everyone has had the opportunity to learn the controls).
Gameplay Score:7

Graphics:
-This is one of the best looking Wii games (graphically) out on the market at this time. The snow and textures are beautifully rendered and look stunning. While it may not be up to the standards of many next gen games it is still impressive. These graphics lend this game it biggest strength which is its superb sense of speed. There is nothing worse than a racing game where you don't actually feel like you are moving fast and this game doesn't have that problem. You actually feel like you are zooming down the slops which is the main reason I love this game.

Sound:
-The music and sound effects in this game are good. While not outstanding they do fit with this type of game even if the song selections are very predictable.
Sound Score:8

Value:
-This game does suffer in the value department. While many people will bu the game for the new controls and enjoy them the game overall lacks and significant improvements. Many of the tracks are taken from past SSX games and the same thing applies to most of the characters. With the downsized move set this is the games major weakness.
Value Score: 7
