Better then OoT?
Many will argue about whether or not it's better then OoT. IT IS!

All problems in OoT are fixed with a better (albeit shorter) game.

The graphics are beautiful. The best Gamecube can offer and for for a Wii. But this isn't about the beautiful awe inspiring flawless graphics.

The graphics are beautiful. The best Gamecube can offer and for for a Wii. But this isn't about the beautiful awe inspiring flawless graphics.

The gameplay is improved with more and better weapons. More complex swordfighting and puzzles and dungeons and my favorite minigames that will leave you in awe. From hidden fireflies you collect for a little girl to the most treachourously perched peice of heart. This game is GODLY!

The sound? Could be better. Why no let Koji Kondo lead an orchestra? Why still cheap keyboard composed music that is MEANT for a symphony?

This game will RAPE your mind with puzzles and beauty and awe inspiring depth of unimaginable worldscapes. If God plays videogames, this is his favorite.

This is a freaking MASTERPIECE!

OoT was great and is certainly number two by a close one but.... this.... is... the best game OF ALL TIME!

The newest installment to the Zelda franchise launched on November 19 with the Nintendo Wii console. Hype abounded this game, for it was originally intended to release on Nintendo Gamecube. After a series of delays, it was placed on the Wii and developed for Nintendo's highly successfull next generation console. It pits the hero Link against the dark and relentless Twilight spreading over Hyrule, threatening to take over the world. The game has also since released to Gamecube as well, but all the talk centers on the Wii version. It is a Gamecube port at heart. Does it live up to the hype?

Let's start with the gameplay. Nintendo did a great job implementing the Wii's motion controls into the game. To swing your sword, you swing the Wii remote. To do a spin attack, simply shake the nunchuck. Items requiring the art of aiming, such as the slingshot or the Hero's Bow, can be fired simply by pointing the Wii remote pointer at an enemy and firing. This mechanic works well and is a lot of fun. Another great addition is the ability to fight on horseback. Believe me, you'll be making some good use of your sword and bow while riding on Epona, and being able to shoot or slash from your horse is surprisingly easy to do. The classic Z-targeting is retained, as well as the first person view used to examine rooms and look for ways around the puzzles. The game is a fairly challenging one, and some of the puzzles have the ability to stump the player and keep them scratching their heads for a bit. There will be certain points in certain temples that will test the player, and the puzzles are both clever and challenging. That being said, the boss fights can be thought of as a little too easy. Most of the bosses can be beaten without taking much is any of Link's health.

A new addition to the Zelda franchise is Link's ability to transform into a wolf. You'll find yourself in wolf form taking out the Twilight's evil minions, and the controls for the wolf are intuitive and fun to learn. You can dig with the D-pad, spin with the nunchuck, and bite by swinging the remote. This is a great mechanic incorporated into an already stellar game.

The graphics are pretty stunning. This may be a Gamecube port, but that doesn't stop the game from delivering gorgeous graphics. From the opening sequence to the final boss fight, you'll find splendid environments and an overall gorgeous atmosphere wherever you go. The game's temples are gorgeous, and the boss fights are rendered beautifully. Even the pixelated Twilight Realm is beautifully done, and the place is a whole other mood swing altogether. Nintendo's new Hyrule is an incredible gorgeous place to find yourself in. This is how I personally imagined Hyrule to be, and it completely dwarfs the Hyrule found in Ocarina of Time. Without giving too much away, Ocarina's Hyrule could almost fit into one of the fields you come across in Twilight's Hyrule. The place is epic, and the player will find many nooks and hidden areas to explore. After playing Twilight Princess, it's hard to go back and play Ocarina of Time after experiencing Twilight's graphics. Ocarina of Time is an incredible game in it's own right, but Twilight Princess's graphics far exceed it, as to be expected.

The sound isn't bad, but it's far from perfect. The game makes liberal use of the Wii remote's built in speaker. Sounds like the clanging of the Master Sword as well as confirmation beeps are emitted from the speaker. The sounds can get loud and slightly annoying, so my advice would be to turn the speaker down to about the halfway point. Then everything sounds a lot better. The familiar MIDI music has returned, and many including myself wonder why they didn't finally break down and include orchestral arrangements. That being said, the music is still a nice listen, and works well for the game. Link is still the mute hero we've come to know him as, but you will hear the familar grunts and giggles from Link and the various characters you will meet in the game. Overall, the game's sound isn't bad at all.

The game's replay value is, to be frank, outstanding. There are upwards of 50 hours of gameplay. There are close to 10 full sized temples in the game, as well as a barrage of sidequests and places to explore. To do everything this game has to offer, there is easily 100 or so hours of gameplay packed into the title. Players will be challgened and kept busy for quite some time, making this installment of the Zelda series one of the most if not the most epic Zelda to date.

If for some reason you were crazy enough to not get this game at launch, then buy it ASAP. If you are a Zelda fan, this game is a required addition to your collection.
