The minigame collection that is packed with the Wii.
First off, I want to say that Nintendo's idea to pack a game in with the Wii was great for sales. Not only did you buy Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, but you also got a copy of Wii Sports for free.

Wii Sports has a good mixture of sports related games (five), so you can sit down (or stand up) and play for a good amount of time without boring yourself.

A quick rundown of the games:

Tennis: An alright game. Slightly lacking without the option to move your character about the court, only the computer moves you, you control the racket swinging with your Wiimote. (7/10)

Baseball: Another not so deep game. You can swing the bat, and pitch the ball, but you can't control the things that make a baseball game for me: baserunning, fielding, stats, pitching out, etc. It's also a little lacking with the 3-inning setting. They could've at least give you the choice for 3, 6, or 9 innings. (6/10)

Golf: Probably to me the best of all the games in this collection. The choices of holes, clubs, and the wind all make this game excellent. (9/10)

Boxing: I don't like this game for one reason. After you get to pro level, there's no point in playing because the computer will beat you every time. And when you're in 2-player, all the second player has to do is just rapidly swing the controllers around to punch like crazy, not playing with any defense (yes, I was beat this way).
Like a watered... really watered down Fight Night with Motion Sensoring. (6/10)

Bowling: Last but not least, bowling. This game is pretty good. The controls are pretty intuitive, and it's absolutly hilarious when you throw the ball backwards “accidentally”. (8/10)

And not to be left unmentioned, the Training and Fitness modes are pretty cool.

The training mode just gives you differant goals for the sports that you can do, rating you on bronze, silver, and gold levels. Does it help make you better? Yes, because it kinda makes you stratigize.... sort of.

And the fitness mode sticks you into three random events, and tests your speed, balance, and stamina. (The one thing that I notice is that it's really good at making fun of you. Being a 14 year old with the 40 year old body isn't too fun. I showed it the next day though....)

So all in all, it's a pretty good package deal. The graphics are fine, gameplay is intuitive (if sometimes flakey), and it's gameplay is good.

Each one of the games are really fun to play, and some games are more fun to use the controller for than others. The best games to play on Wii Sports are probably baseball, bowling, and boxing. Tennis and golf aren't as fun, even though they can be pretty fun to play in any spare time that you have. It's impressive to see (especially in baseball) how responsive the controller is to your hand movement, and can even pick up the shakiness in your hands.

Graphics: 6
Gets what it needs to done and makes pretty decent use for your Mii, which really is all of what they are used for other than “mingling”. The graphics can sometimes get a little weird in spots such as the bat going through your characters in baseball, not to mention the fact that the outfielders don't have arms or legs.

Sound: 7
Not much sound to be heard, an impressive thing to note are the sound effects that come out of the Wiimote while you're playing. Boxing is probably the most impressive game sound wise.

Value: 7
Basically the only thing to say about this game is that it is incredibly fun, but the fun that you will have with the game will probably only be had for a few months until you forget all about it whenever you're playing the other games the Wii has to offer.

Final Words:
Takes a fantastic use of the Wiimote and the Mii characters and is a lot of fun to play. If the game hadn't been free with the Wii, the value may be lower but it is definitely worth to play. The only thing missing in the game is online play, which would be really fun to have. Maybe we'll have Wii Sports 2 someday?
