Bad: Another Boring story, It just doesnt do enough with the Vegas theme as it could have.

Rainbow Six Vegas is a great game and is a must for fans of the series. It's an overall great game, I would suggest it for anyone who likes this game genre.

We'll start with the section that most true gamers will care about:
Gameplay:
I've given this a 9/10, for the following reasons. R6:v utilises a cover system, that is simply activated by holding down LT, which then changes the camera to 3rd person to give a better view of the task at hand. You can then use your analogue sticks to pop out from over at any time, as well as blind firing. This makes single player feel more refined than previous Rainbow six games, although the cover system in GRAW2 feels more natural and looks more lifelike. The use of the cover system in multiplayer i feel does lead to camping, as players can just take cover behind a door and pop any players coming through, however a nice frag can change that so im not too worried.

As for the story, without ruining it for you, there are terrorists and you have to eliminate them.

Ubisoft did mention clan support for rainbow six: vegas, but dont be fooled. This is simply the option to add a 3 character prefix to your name. No leagues, ladders logos, just a prefix, which as a previous counter strike player annoyed me, as i know how much fun clans can be.

Graphics:
I've given this 8/10, for the following reasons. The single player campaign looks beautiful, be it flying over a desert town in mexico, or fast roping out of a chopper in vegas. Your character detail is also very well done, the textures and lighting effects look stunning. But then we have to talk about multiplayer. What can i say, they take a hit. The character models dont look anywhere near as polished as in single player, and the textures and lighting just become more basic. This was very disappointing, as I would have loved to experience the same visual intensity from single player in multiplayer, but unfortunatley thats not to be.

You can use your xbox camera to take a picture of your face and put it on your multiplayer character, however this is more of a gimmick, and with the average graphics in multiplayer, could be deemed a waste of time anyway.

Sound:
I've given this 10/10, for the following reasons. I don't know about you, but sound makes or breaks a game for me, its what puts you in the game, and this game delivers. The voices throughout the single player are great, and really help add to the atmosphere. A good example is that the terrorists swear, I know that might sound slightly immature, but when put in the context of the game, it helps make it all the more real. Next its the gun effects, and again with a surround sound setup these can make you want to duck for cover. Each gun has its own distinctive sound, for example a glock will sound relativley beefy, but if your packing a Desert Eagle, you will feel your internal organs vibrate from each shot, its that intense.

Value:
I've given this 9/10, for the following reasons. If you dont own vegas then 2 words... why not. This game will have you playing for ages, the single player can be a little challenging at some points, so if you find it a doddle why not increase the difficulty, I found it much more satisfying clearing a room with the higher difficulty than completing the game on normal. With all that i have said regarding the multiplayer, dont be put off. It is still a very enjoyable experience... where else can you abseil down a casino whilst talking to your friend? And with the added bonus of coop missions aswell, you easily get your moneys worth.

Summary:
Rainbow Six Vegas has managed to turn around the Rainbow Six series. It has gone back to its roots (Rainbow Six 3, Rogue Spear etc) and whilst you dont have to plan your every move, tatics do help, especially on Realistic if you intend on making it through in one piece.
