NexGen Wars: What are you bringing to the Guitar Hero name this year that we haven't seen in previous versions of the game?

Ted Lange: Rabbits! Tons and tons of Rabbits. Originally we planned to only include a few, but then the breeding started and you know what happens. We are now going to be showing Guitar Hero 3 in full 1080r or one thousand and eighty rabbits. Actually we are improving everything this time around. The graphics have come a long way since Guitar Hero 2 and they look great. We are including several online Multiplayer modes including Face Off, Pro Face Off and also new to the game Battle Mode where you will be able to throw attacks at each other. There are attacks such as raising the other players Difficulty to attacks where the other player’s strings break making them rapidly press a button until the string is fixed. These elements really make Guitar Hero stand out as the premier party game.

NexGen Wars: This is the first time the franchise has really branched off as a multi-platform game. Will some versions have exclusive content or special features that other versions miss out on?

Ted Lange: For the most part it’s more of a choose your favorite platform. There will be small things that will be added to each version, but mainly just due to the fact that they are specific to the console itself. We really just wanted to make sure that everyone regardless of what console they own can pick Guitar Hero 3 up and feel like a rock star.

NexGen Wars: Guitar hero's game play is rather repetitive and yet maintains an addictive feel. What do you think is the biggest challenge with making sure it stays addictive without becoming monotonous?

Ted Lange: First of all it’s all about the music. Do you ever get tired of listening to your favorite songs? I know I don’t, so each version that we come out with we try to step it up when it comes to music licensing. This time around I think we really have outdone ourselves. The song list we put together is awesome and we got several songs that we have been trying to get for some time such as Slayer’s “Raining Blood” and Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality.” We also have added additional sections of the game such as Boss Battle’s that really add to the overall experience of being a rock star. This time around you face Slash and have to guitar battle him which turned out to be a great addition to the franchise.

NexGen Wars: Will guitars from previous installments of the series be compatible with Guitar Hero 3?

Ted Lange: All PS2 guitars from the previous GH games will work the same with the new PS2 version the same goes for the Xbox 360 version. The PS3 and Wii versions however are new to the Guitar Hero franchise so you will need to purchase our new guitars to play them, but you will want to since our new Wireless Les Paul shaped Guitar Controller’s are our best controllers yet. We have improved upon everything with them and they play and look great.

NexGen Wars: Will the Wii Remote that's used in the Wii's guitar be used for anything within the game or simply for wireless access to the console?

Ted Lange: For the most part it will be used for the wireless access for the console, but who knows we may add a couple things to jazz up the Wii version.

NexGen Wars: How many songs will ship with the game and how many do you plan on putting up as downloadable content?

Ted Lange: We plan to give everyone a nice amount of songs to keep themselves busy for some time. We know that with GH2 people are expecting a similar amount of tracks and we don’t plan to disappoint. As far as downloads go, we have some great plans, but you will just have to wait and see.

NexGen Wars: Some feel that the “attacks” that can be used in battle mode will mess with the formula of the game. Do you believe that it does (not necessarily in a bad way) or do you feel that consumers will find it as a welcome addition that stays true to the mold of the series once they get their hands on it?

Ted Lange: The best thing about Battle Mode is that it is just another mode. If players like the original formula they can still play that just like before, but who doesn’t want to take a break and battle it out from time to time. Really its all about having fun with Battle Mode, every time I play it I can’t help but to have a good time and crack up when I throw an attack like Lefty Flip at someone and see them freak out trying to stay in the game. It really ended up being a great addition to the game and I’m sure once the fans of the game try it out it will be a welcomed addition as well.

NexGen Wars: It's been stated that you were able to secure songs from bands that you hadn't been able to before with Guitar Hero 3, which bands are you most proud that you were able to include in the game this time around?

Ted Lange: As I said earlier Slayer’s and Living Colour have been bands we’ve wanted for some time. Another big one for me personally was Smashing Pumpkins. I’ve been a fan of theirs since the beginning and have also tried to get a song of theirs in the game since GH1, but it took till now for them to give us the approval. It seems like each version we come out with we are able to get a hold of a few harder to reach bands. I can’t wait till Guitar Hero 4. I’m sure the Rock gates will be completely open by that time.

NexGen Wars: I understand that face plates are going to be sold to allow people to customize their guitars. How much will these face plates cost and will they work for every guitar regardless of which platform it's for?

Ted Lange: They will cost about $332.65, but they are made of solid gold so it’s really worth it. Actually I have no idea how much they will be, but I know the plan is to make them affordable so that everyone can fully take advantage of the customization we are adding into our Guitar Controllers. As far as platform specific ones, the Wii faceplates will be different since there is a slot for the Wii remote that must be on it, but the PS3 and 360 ones will be interchangeable.

NexGen Wars: Thanks for your time. Any last word to the Guitar Hero addicts of the world?

Ted Lange: Thanks for all the support. We wouldn’t be where we are now if it wasn’t for all the fans of the game. We promise to keep listening to all of your feedback and continue to evolve the franchise to make it the best it can be. Keep Rocking!!!
